National rules are no more:
There are now only advisory guidelines from the UK Government. We are asked to stay home if we develop flu or cold like symptoms and we are no longer being pinged by Test and Trace if we are a close contact of someone who has Covid. Test kits are no longer readily available and regular Lateral Flow Tests are not being used by many of us. Some of us have retained the courtesy practice of wearing face coverings in shops and crowded indoor spaces.
Rules set by St Michael's Parish Church Council
The rules at St Michael's will be eased further after Pentecost Sunday on 5th June. There are no limits to numbers attending onsite in the building and we are no longer making mask wearing a requirement. Those who wish can still wear a face covering. Some restrictions remain in place as follows:
- We continue to offer online links to all our Sunday and major services/events so that anyone can always participate in maximum safety from home
- We still ask those attending in person to undertake a personal health check before leaving home and staying away if we have any cold or flu like symptoms.
- Other remaining measures: one way system of flow through the building; hand sanitiser at the door; full ventilation of the building; digital download of services onto mobile devices in advance limits the need to hand out sheets or books; length of services is minimised; Greeting of Peace is done using sign language; Communion is via intinction of wafers by the priest (i.e. no 'common' cup).
